Cricket:
Cricket is believed to have begun as early as 13th century as a game in which country boys bowled at a tree stump or at the hurdle gate into sheep pen. The earliest reference to an 11-a-side match, is to a match played in Sussex for a stake of 50 guineas
Basics:-
The teams take turns in batting and fielding. There are two batsmen of one team out in the field, facing the entire team of 11 players. The team which bats is called the batting side.The ones which and field are called the fielding side. in a team, there are in all 11 players playing, 4 substitutes.
The Ground:-
The size:- About 137 metres wide and 150 metres long.
The wickets:-They are 22 yards or 20.12 metres apart( area of a pitch).About 28 inches or 71.1 cms from ground.
Equipment:-
The Ball:-Made of cork centre wrapped with twine, and a leather cover.

Batsman:-
The batsman has to hold a bat in most comfortable way that helps him score. A good batsman stands with his weight evenly distributed and the feet slightly apart. Most batsmen stand with one foot on each side of the popping crease.
Bowler:-
The objective of the bowler is primarily to get batsman out and only secondarily to prevent him from scoring runs.Good bowling is based on coordinating bowling, arm, and shoulder motion.Bowling can be right or left arm.He can bowl from over the wicket or around the wicket.

Wicket-Keeper:-
The wicket-keeper is a specialist, one of the most important members of the fielding side.He/She stands behind the striker's wicket.He/She would be 10 to 20 yards back for fast bowlers and 1 to 2 yards for spinners.A wicket keeper concentrates on every ball, always ready to stop a ball that passes the wicket, to stump a batsman if he/she leaves his/her crease or catches behind the ball if the ball has been sneaked or sliced.
Fielders:-
The best fielders are fast runners, with quick reactions , having high accuracy and stamina. They have to field the bowl, catch the bowl if batsman tosses the bowl up in the air.
